My paintings begin with patterns I recognise across radically different scales: tree branches becoming blood vessels, coral becoming neurons, roots becoming synapses.
I use these visual rhymes to blur the boundary between body and landscape. Cells, membranes, protective structures and branching systems become ways of thinking about resilience, vulnerability and our dependence on other living things.
Bright colour sits alongside ideas of resilience, ecological fragility and mortality. I’m interested in brightness & optimistic colour not as decoration or escape, but as a form of resistance - a way of continuing to imagine regeneration when the systems around us feel precarious.
